I'm Andrea and I am 34 years old. I have a 15 year old daughter, Alex. We are owned by Skyler (6 year old blk/tan) and Jesse (1 year old choc/tan dapple). I am work full time for a small security company. I have two challenging positions there, patrol driver and on-site supervisor. What that means is that I drive patrol AND have the duty of handling all site security officers in my section of the company. They are the ones that just have a single duty location vs driving around. My daughter is of course a student. We are just owned by the two boys, we don't breed though one day I probably will. Now on to the fun stuff.
This is Skyler.
Skyler is my special boy. He is the product of a back yard breeder who mass produces like a puppy mill. Sky has alopecia which has caused his hair to be thinner and to actually rub off on his chest, belly and back of his thighs/bottom. He's already had one incident of back problems which we treated with crate rest and oral steroids. Skyler can follow the basic commands (sit, down, stay) but can also speak, roll over, roll the other way, put em up (paws up) and go home (when we are out and I take off his leash he'll wait until I say go home and then run like mad to the door). He's my son, my best pal, my bed snuggler and lap warmer.
This is Jesse.
That face just cracks me up! Jesse is actually my daughter's dog. He knows I am the head cheese but she's his best pal. Jesse has gone to "school" and knows all the basic commands, though he still seems to think sit and down (lay down) are the same thing. He's the resident ball chaser. This fellow can chase the ball for HOURS! It's so cute, if he doesn't put the ball in your hand then he drops it and rolls it to you with his nose. He comes from Just Whistlin' Doxie and I cannot reccommend her high enough. Now Jesse does have one issue, but just one. The dapple gene hit his eye gene in just such a way that it caused "Iris Coloboma" in his left eye.
| Quote: |
| Iris Coloboma -Iris Coloboma is a condition in which the iris is incompletely formed leaving a "hole" in the iris that permits light to enter through. IC's may vary in size from undetectable except by ophthalmologic exam to large and easily seen with the naked eye. Due to the increase in light transmission, most affected dogs will squint and have impaired vision in bright sunlight. Mode of inheritance is not understood but does appear to be familial. |
Jess shouldn't be bred, but since he's neutered it's not an issue. It does affect his vision in that eye to the extent that the vet says he is, for all intents and purposes, blind in it. That's ok, we just call it his wonky eye and that it's special. My daughter and my parents call it thier favorite eye (between that one and the brown one). If you look closely at this picture you can see it, though the glare from the sky makes it difficult.
We love our wild and crazy boy! _________________

Hi Andrea. I always wondered what your name was.LOL
I love your boys. They are both very special.
I love your posts. Although I don't always agree, I can see you are passionate about your boys & Doxies in general.
